I am Md Mobashir Hasan Shandhi, Ph.D., an American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellow in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University and a mHealth Training Institute 2023 Scholar. I am currently working in the Big Ideas Lab with Dr. Jessilyn Dunn in developing and validating sensors and algorithms to monitor patients with chronic (e.g., heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases) and infectious diseases (e.g., COVID-19, flu).

Before my Postdoc at Duke, I finished my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. During my Ph.D., I have worked with Dr. Omer T. Inan in developing wearable sensors and corresponding signal processing and machine learning algorithms for monitoring cardiovascular and respiratory health, especially for patients with heart failure. During my Master’s in ECE at the University of Utah, I developed a high channel density neural array (Utah Multisite Electrode Array) for large neuronal mapping with Drs. Sandeep Negi and Florian Solzbacher.

My research interests are in the field of biosensing, physiological monitoring, signal processing, machine learning, bioMEMS, and micromachining techniques. I have finished my B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

For my research work, I have received multiple awards so far, including the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship for my research proposal on wearable biosensors to monitor cardiorespiratory fitness in patients with heart failure with a two-year grant of $143k as the principal investigator. Besides this fellowship, I have received an Early Career Fellowship, Runner-up Best Paper award, First Place Research award, and Distinguished Poster Nominee for my work.

Apart from my research, I like hiking, biking, reading, camping, and spending time with my family.
